Lufkin ISD voters passed Proposition A and B in the May 2, 2026, bond election by 70% percent for Prop A and 57% percent for Prop B. The results indicate the community’s commitment to supporting Lufkin ISD’s students and schools.
“This is a great day for Lufkin ISD,” Superintendent Dr. James Hockenberry said. "We are extremely grateful to the families and residents of Lufkin ISD who came out to vote. We especially want to thank the 2025-2026 Bond Advisory Committee for their time and for developing the proposals, the Vote Yes For Lufkin ISD Kids Political Action Committee for their extraordinary work, and the 2024-2025 Future Facilities Committee for casting a vision for the district. The approval of Bond 2026 means we can improve aging facilities and equipment and ensure our students have the learning environments they deserve for years to come. The Lukin ISD community once again wrapped its arms around the district to propel us forward. Rarely do you see this kind of support time and time again. Special communities have a vision and deliver when called upon, and none are more special than Lufkin. Thank you for entrusting the district to fulfill your expectations.”
Prop A provides $98.25 million for renovations to Lufkin High School, an addition and renovations to the LHS Career and Technical Education facility, and a new ag barn. The voter-approved proposal also funds safety and security updates, the start of removing portable buildings at elementary campuses, and the purchase of new buses.
Prop B provides $42 million for a new Lufkin High School stadium with locker rooms, an 8-lane track, turf, lights, scoreboard, sound system, restrooms, concessions, and a new press box.
With the bond approved, Lufkin ISD will immediately begin coordinating with architects. The district will also collaborate with financial advisors to establish a bond program schedule.
