Lufkin ISD is proud to celebrate an incredible achievement!
Ms. LaRenda Watts of Lufkin Middle School has been selected as a 2026 recipient of the Gilbert I. “Buddy” Low Excellence in Education Award, presented by the Beaumont Foundation. She was chosen from an outstanding group of nominees across Angelina, Sabine, and San Augustine counties.
Lufkin Middle School Principal Mr. Mijares, Lufkin Middle School Assistant Principal Mrs. Havard, along with Lufkin ISD Superintendent Dr. Hockenberry, surprised Ms. Watts in her classroom with flowers, a certificate, and kind words to honor this exciting recognition.
In honor of her dedication to excellence and her commitment to inspiring a love of learning in her students, Ms. Watts will be recognized at an awards gala on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, in San Augustine, Texas.
