Black History Month Spotlight: Olivia R. Hackney
This month we’re proud to honor Olivia R. Hackney, our second spotlight in celebration of Black History Month! Ms. Hackney was a trailblazing educator and one of the first Black female principals in Lufkin ISD, serving with distinction and setting high standards that inspired students and colleagues alike.
In recognition of her lasting impact, Hackney Primary was named in her honor. When the campus later transitioned into Hackney School, which houses the Hackney Learning Center and the Hackney DAEP Campus, the name remained, and the campus was rededicated to her, continuing to reflect her legacy of leadership and dedication to student success.
Thank you, Ms. Hackney, for paving the way and leaving a legacy that continues to inspire generations!
