Mrs. Winters’ 5th-grade math class recently transformed into an Order of Operations Operating Room Theater, and the results were nothing short of amazing!
Thanks to generous donations from CHI St. Luke’s Health - Memorial Lufkin, our students suited up as surgeons and got hands-on with their learning -- literally “operating” on math problems using the order of operations! From parentheses to exponents, multiplication/division to addition/subtraction, students worked carefully and precisely to “treat” each problem step-by-step, just like a real surgical team!
This engaging, interactive activity not only brought math to life but also helped students deepen their understanding in a fun and memorable way. The excitement, teamwork, and critical thinking on display made this a truly special experience for everyone involved.
