This morning, Lufkin ISD Bus #S33 was involved in a very minor accident. We’re thankful to share that all students are safe and there were no injuries. Students were quickly transferred to another bus and transported to their campuses, and parents were contacted by our Transportation Department.

The safety of our students remains our top priority. We appreciate the prompt response of our transportation team and first responders.

To ensure adequate time for building and bus inspections and to allow students and staff additional time to navigate challenges related to the recent storm, Lufkin ISD will have a 2-hour delayed start on Tuesday. Upon arrival, breakfast will be served in all cafeterias. Normal operations will resume on Wednesday. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Due to inclement weather, the Parent & Family Engagement Night originally scheduled for Monday, January 26th has been moved to Thursday, January 29th. All incoming juniors (Class of 2028) and incoming sophomores (Class of 2029) are invited to join us at 6:00 PM in the LHS Auditorium for important information about course requests, career pathways, and new schedule updates for the 2026–2027 school year. We look forward to seeing you on January 29th!

Lufkin ISD School Closure Notification: School Canceled for Monday, January 26th

Lufkin ISD will be closed Monday, January 26, due to inclement weather and potentially hazardous conditions. All campuses, offices, and activities are canceled. We will continue to monitor weather conditions over the weekend in case a decision is needed regarding Tuesday. Updates will be shared through the Lufkin ISD app, district website, Remind, and official social media pages. We encourage our Panther community to stay warm and safe.
