Lufkin ISD is partnering with Angelina College and the T.L.L. Temple Foundation to create an Early College High School in order to make college a reality for students who might not otherwise have the opportunity and/or support.

Mr. Danny Whisenant named LMS Principal
We are pleased with the announcement of Mr. Whisenant as the Lufkin Middle School principal. He has the experience on the LMS campus and leading his own campus at Slack Elementary to make a seamless transition to the middle school.

Board unanimously passes a 3% salary increase for all employees
The board unanimously passed a 3% pay raise for all employees at the July board meeting.

Lufkin Panthers Football to Air on Yates Broadcasting this Fall

The seniors enjoyed breakfast together as they celebrated one last time before graduation. The summa cum laude students were announced as well as Valedictorian, Michael Calhoun, and Salutatorian, Allison Todd.

Outstanding Dual Language Student Awards presented at board meeting
Each year, two students are selected, one student who originally qualified for the Dual Language Magnet Program in English and one who qualified in Spanish.

Val & Sal announced at Senior Breakfast
Michael Calhoun was named Valedictorian and Allison Todd Salutatorian at the Senior Breakfast at the Convention Center this morning. The two received an additional medal for their honors among the 45 Summa Cum Laude announced at the breakfast.

People ask what I am most proud of about my time in Lufkin, and there’s no one single thing I can point to, because there are so many.

Dyslexia therapy and literacy intervention graduates serving every primary & elementary campus
The Lufkin ISD school board recognized ten teachers who were trained in dyslexia intervention using the Neuhaus method. After completing their training, which included amassing 200 hours of training in Houston, 700 hours of curriculum, 10 demonstration lessons, multiple reports, case studies on students and four book reports, they became Certified Dyslexia Therapists.

Spectacular Spellers: Dual Spelling bee at Burley Primary in English and Spanish
The spelling bee at Burley Primary is open to all students and consists of English and Spanish words to make it extra challenging. Congrats to our winners!

Art scholarships were given to four students at the Lufkin ISD board meeting. Art is an important part of the educational process, and Lufkin ISD proudly supports the fine arts.
