During the May Lufkin ISD board meeting, re-elected board members Scott Skelton and Hall Henderson took the oath of office as well as newly elected board member, Matt Knight. Swearing in the trustees was The Honorable Bob Inselmann.

Matt Knight

Mr. Knight, who is new to the board, is a graduate of Hallsville High School. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University, and his Masters in Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. He brings 15 years of education experience  as a teacher, coach, and administrator. Knight is an associate at The Advanced Financial Group in Lufkin. He currently serves on the Boys and Girls Club of Lufkin Advisory Board, the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber Leadership Tomorrow Committee, the Lufkin Youth Baseball Board, and is active coaching youth sports. He is a member of the Lufkin Host Lions Club, the Angelina County A&M Club, the Texas A&M Lettermen’s Association, and is a graduate of Leadership Lufkin. He and his wife, Brandie who is the Career and Technology counselor at Lufkin High School, have three children.

The school board elected officers at the end of the board meeting. Scott Skelton was re-elected as board president, and Allyson Langston was re-elected as secretary. Don Muhlbach was elected as the new vice president of the board.
