The Lufkin High School Top 20 students surprised their Educators of Influence with an invitation to the Panthers of Prestige banquet that will be held on May 21st.

The LHS Pantherbots are ranked 24th out of 183 teams in Texas. The competition begins this Thursday through Saturday in Austin, Texas.

Herty Primary hosted a Spring Fling for the students to enjoy fun activities in the great outdoors.

Dunbar Primary hosted ” A Day with the ARTS” where students could explore different types of art mediums with the help of local artists and Lufkin ISD staff.

Dual en Acción, a new service club for students enrolled in the Dual Language program, participated in their second community service event creating an outdoor classroom.

This year at the Angelina County Youth Fair, there will be a livestock show for special needs students in grades 3rd-12th who reside in Angelina County.

Mrs. Julie Munoz is all about family. She was raised in East Texas and has been with the Lufkin ISD family for fourteen years. She serves as an Instructional Coach at Burley Primary.

STEM 4 students were recognized at the March board meeting who participated in the Regional Science and Engineering Fair held in Kilgore on Friday, March 1 and are advancing to state competition.

The LHS Panther Players theater students are advancing to Bi-District competition with their one-act play, The Glass Menagerie, written by Tennessee Williams. The Bi-District event will be in Texarkana on March 27th. 

Having a master plumber on staff is a necessity especially with the day-to-day service needed on a district with more than 1,000 restrooms. Brian Hollers, Lead Plumber, has been with Lufkin ISD for four years and enjoys the challenge of service plumbing.

Mrs. Cessali Williams’ culinary class served up a delicious breakfast to the District Leadership Team during their monthly meeting this morning at the Administration Building.

Kim Hamilton said, “They’re just kids. They want to be treated like everyone else. They want to be loved, and we have a lot of that to go around. It’s a good place for kids to be.”

A breakfast at Lufkin High School honored the LHS seniors who received the National Merit Commended and National Hispanic Recognition Program awards: Ali Khurshid, Bryce King (National Merit Commended); Riley Latham, Fernan Chong, Moises Rueda (National Hispanic Recognition Program).

Burley Primary hosted Math Night to engage students and parents alike in fun math activities. Burley Primary teachers along with ADAC, BancorpSouth Bank, and Ellen Trout Zoo, created an event geared toward math games to enhance problem solving and critical thinking ideas.

Sixth and seventh grade student council brought love-filled treats to the Lufkin ISD Transportation Department as a thank you for all that they do to transport and support students.

From her years as the Communications Officer at the Harris County Sheriff’s Office to her career as a head volleyball coach at Madison High School in Houston, Amelia Cole has been preparing her whole life for her role as counselor at the Alternative Center for Education (ACE).

The LISD Elementary Honor Society recognizes students for excellence in the areas of leadership, initiative, scholarship, and dependability.
