On Monday night, Lufkin High School Early College High School students received their graduation cords and stoles for their accomplishments at the ECHS Cording Ceremony.

The Parent Univeristy graduation ceremony signified the dedication and perseverance of our parent community. Thank you to our community  partners and volunteers for their unwavering support in ensuring the accessibility and cost-free nature of these transformative programs.

Community leaders, school employees and a host of friends and family came out on Sunday afternoon at the new Lufkin Middle School to meet our new Supt. Dr. James Hockenberry.

Tonight, the Museum of East Texas was filled with Young Scholars, AP Art Students, STEM students, GT students, parents, Lufkin ISD staff, art museum aficionados and proud friends and family who all gathered to peruse student art.

Come meet our new superintendent, Dr. Hockenberry, at a Meet & Greet at the new Lufkin Middle School campus on Sunday.

“I started crying,” Kenady Hathorn, LHS senior, said. ” I’m super thankful. I didn’t know how I was going to pay for that (college tuition). It was all God’s provision.”

“Autism is a spectrum disorder and doesn’t affect everyone the same,” Dr. Amanda Smith, Henry’s mom, said. “There is no “one-size fits all” model that works and we’re all figuring it out as we go. I’m not an expert. I just know what has worked for my son and that I couldn’t have done it alone.”

From captivating storytelling to impressive vocals and choreography, the Lufkin Middle School performers truly wowed the audience.

The Lufkin Association of Realtors teamed up with the Texas Ag Extension office to award a lucky recipient of this fun  project and plan to have the makeover completed by May 10.

Caring Clowns International (CCI) recently collaborated with Slack Elementary School Student Council on a fundraiser called “Change Wars.”

Hall Henderson and Scott Skelton were recognized at the April School Board meeting for their service on the Lufkin ISD School Board.

Last night, Lufkin Middle School administrators opened the front doors of the newly designed middle school to the public to witness the beautiful completion of Phase II of the bond project.  

Students and staff across the district had the opportunity to experience the Solar Eclipse with lots of learning and viewing activities.

“The board considered 43 applications, community input, two layers of interviews and reference and background checks in our extensive search for our next superintendent,” said Kristi Gay, board president. “Dr. James Hockenberry is the Board’s unanimous choice to fill this position.”

Lufkin High School senior Elias Moore was acknowledged by United States Congressmen Pete Sessions for his appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point at a ceremony at Lufkin High School today.
