Kindergarten through 5th grade boys and girls can sign up to learn soccer skills from the LHS Boys Soccer team at the Lil’ Panther Soccer clinics.

LHS Business Students to attend State Leadership Conference
Lufkin High School chapter members Jackson Hester, Montana Russaw, Daniela Ramirez, and Samantha Standley will join over 2,800 other conference delegates from across the state to participate in state level business skill competitions, general sessions, and state officer candidate campaigns and elections.
Wear red and support the American Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women Campaign”
“Cardiovascular diseases and stroke cause 1 in 3 women’s deaths each year, killing approximately one woman every 80 seconds.” Wear red on Friday to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease.

Soul to Soul Event planned for February 5th
Soul to Soul will be held on Monday, February 5th beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Lufkin High School Tom Jack Lucas Auditorium.

LHS Student makes All-State Choir
Philip Callaway, a member of the Lufkin High School Choir program, will perform the Texas All-State Tenor-Bass Choir in San Antonio, Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center as part of the 2018 Texas Music Educators Association Clinic/Convention.

Primary Teacher receives National Board Certification

Lufkin ISD is canceling school Tuesday, Jan. 16, due to the icy road conditions. School is delayed until 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 17th. Buses will run 2 hours later than the regular pick up time.

It’s the holiday season, and through the hustle and bustle of buying presents and all of the festivities, I take the time to reflect on the gifts that really matter, the gifts that are lifelong, the gifts that years from now students will talk about and retell to their children and grandchildren.

Zumba for a great cause!
Come for two hours of Zumba with multiple guest instructors all to give gifts to primary-aged students. Admission is an unwrapped gift valued at $10 or more. Thanks to Rudy Flores and friends for putting together this fundraiser!

Chamber’s Leadership Lufkin class visits LISD for Education Day
Members of the Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Lufkin program took the opportunity to take several tours of the district during their Education Day. Leadership Lufkin is a program of the Chamber of Commerce that educates and identifies existing and potential leaders in Lufkin/Angelina County.

Hackney Primary Cafeteria Staff is this month’s Golden Spatula Award Winner
The Golden Spatula is awarded each month to a campus cafeteria team that goes above and beyond simply serving food. They interact with the students and make breakfast and lunch a positive experience for each child.
