Pedal Power! Herty Primary students play to learn
Students at Herty Primary are participating in kinesthetic learning with Think & Learn Smart Cycles. The cycles are designed for students PreK through first grade and will be used to help special needs children learn while pedaling.

Ready for Launch! Lufkin’s Experiment and Mission Patches are headed to the ISS
An original flight experiment developed by Lufkin Middle School students Shariah Jackson and Abedeel McGrew was selected for testing on the International Space Station (ISS) in this year’s Student Spaceflight Experiments Program (SSEP) Mission 14 to the ISS.

Garrett Principal Cherree Hall said, “Mrs. Heaton is very dependable and reliable. She ensures her students are always learning through her passion for student success. Her lessons offer hands-on opportunities and keeps students engaged at all times.”

LHS Choir students earned spot in All-Region Choir
Students who ranked in the top 15 chairs will also advance to the Pre-Area Round in December. The LHS choir is under the direction of Nicole Stewart.

October is Dyslexia Awareness Month
Each year, October is recognized worldwide as Dyslexia Awareness Month, a time to come together to raise awareness, share resources, and tell stories about dyslexia successes. Students and employees across the district wore red to show their support for Dyslexia Awareness Month.

Home Pack football games (including halftime shows) will be streamed live in high definition, and are free to connect to and watch. Catch all of the action this Friday (October 16th) as the Panthers take on Magnolia for the first home varsity game of the season!

Lufkin Panthers first home game tickets available on Wednesday
On Wednesday, the Lufkin Panther football tickets will open to the public and will be for sale at the DEC building at 701 North Street from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Each customer may purchase 4 tickets.

Groundbreaking takes place at Lufkin Middle School and LHS Athletic Complex
It was a great day to break ground on two of the $75 million bond projects yesterday afternoon. The Lufkin ISD board, administrators, architects, construction crews and media were all present to document this momentous day.

LETS GEAR UP Grant preparing students for success after high school
As superintendent of schools for Lufkin ISD, it is important to me that students are prepared for success when they leave the halls of Lufkin High School. With that in mind, I am proud that Lufkin ISD is implementing the Linking Education to Success (LETS) Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) grant that was received in 2018.
