For the 2022-2023 school year, 3K students from Hackney Primary will combine with the 4K students to attend school at the Garrett Primary campus located at 229 Leach Street. The move comes due to the decline in enrollment for PreK services.

Lufkin High School choir students recently competed at the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest earning a Superior or Excellent rating. Each of these students had to learn and perform a song from memory for a judge at the state contest in Austin.

“I look forward to building relationships with our students, teachers, parents and engaging the community to support all students,” said Bennett.

The GEAR Up Imaginarium Camp is just one example of students mentoring younger campers in STEM activities.

The Lufkin ISD Education Foundation received a check in the amount of $3,880 from the In & Out Clinic flu vaccine incentive.

The Beaumont Foundation announced Amy Rhoades, Coston Elementary teacher, and Emily Courtney, Lufkin High School teacher, as recipients of the 2022 Gilbert I. “Buddy” Low Excellence in Education Award at an awards gala in San Augustine, Texas on Tuesday night.

The students at Slack Elementary had two special guest speakers who brought inspiration and expectations to the 5th graders.
