The Lufkin ISD Evento en Español will be held on Tuesday, November 12th beginning at 5:30 p.m at Lufkin High School. This free event is hosted by the Nuestras Madres committee, a committee of Hispanic moms that come together monthly to talk about issues and ideas that can help communication between the school district and Hispanic parents.
The idea for Evento en Español was created from that committee and now hundreds of people turn out for this evening of festivities, educational sessions, and delicious food by LaUnica. The event is completely in the Spanish language. This year, Burley Primary students and Lufkin Middle School students will perform. There will be breakout sessions with topics ranging from immigration to academic courses. To-go plates of food will be served, and the evening will wrap up with music by the mariachi band Los Leñadores from Stephen F. Austin State University.
We thank Elizabeth Lopez, the Nuestras Madres committee, and all of the volunteers for their hard work in making this night a success.
