Ana Villanueva’s 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Spanish classes have been learning about Hispanic culture and the Día de Muertos or Day of the Dead that will take place October 31st through November 2nd. The project encouraged students to do a report and make a shadow box about a loved one or friend of the family who passed away.

The Day of the Dead celebrates those who have passed on with remembering their favorite foods, drinks, traditions, and stories. The students decorated the boxes, some with real food and drinks and others with photos or memorabilia belonging to the deceased relative.

Mrs. Villanueva said the project was great for the students and got them talking to their families and reminiscing about their loved ones. Pictured are a few of the 7th graders presenting their display boxes to the class.
