LISD Counseling Mission Statement
The mission of the Lufkin ISD Counseling Department is to provide a proactive, comprehensive and developmentally appropriate program to address students’ academic and career goals in addition to supporting their personal and social needs. The department works collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams as well as partnerships with parents/guardians, staff, and community members to accomplish these goals. By working together, LISD counselors seek to empower all students to become successful, productive, contributing citizens, and lifelong learners in a diverse and changing world.
The Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs
Founded on the four components of the Texas Comprehensive Counseling Program, Guidance, Individual Planning, Responsive Services, and System Support, Lufkin ISD counselors will take a proactive approach in the development and delivery of a comprehensive counseling program. LISD seeks to equip all students with academic, social, and emotional skills needed to succeed within their school community. Based on a developmental continuum from pre-kindergarten to twelfth grade, students will be afforded a personalized system of support, as needed, to maximize growth and achievement as they prepare for post-graduation success.
