The steel beams are going up at the new Lufkin High School Multi-purpose building. The brand-new building will stretch over 65,200 square feet and house a competition gym, practice gym and cross-court volleyball.

Band staff giving ‘hands-free’ assessment to incoming sixth-graders Wednesday
The Lufkin ISD band staff is excited to be able to give a “hands-free” assessment for assigning incoming sixth-graders to an instrument. Testing will be on Wednesday, June 10, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the LMS Band Hall. Click on this post for more information.

This amount includes alumni association scholarships totaling $128,000, college and university scholarships, military and community donors.

Two LISD employees receive scholarships from Association of Compensatory Educators in Texas
The purpose of the ACET scholarship is to award paraprofessional staff with the opportunity to pursue higher education to complete their teaching credentials.

Two LHS seniors receive Dual Language Student Award
Riley Thornton and Hilda Cuello González received the Dual Language Student Award for demonstrating excellence in the district’s Dual Language program.

Lufkin ISD Superintendent, Lynn Torres, announced this morning that Amy Fain, previous Anderson Elementary principal, will be taking on the role as principal at Brookhollow Elementary.

Lufkin ISD has chosen to have a “hybrid ceremony.” A hybrid ceremony is, according to the governor’s graduation ceremony guidelines, a “compilation video of students filmed individually or in small groups.”
