“I started crying,” Kenady Hathorn, LHS senior, said. ” I’m super thankful. I didn’t know how I was going to pay for that (college tuition). It was all God’s provision.”

“Autism is a spectrum disorder and doesn’t affect everyone the same,” Dr. Amanda Smith, Henry’s mom, said. “There is no “one-size fits all” model that works and we’re all figuring it out as we go. I’m not an expert. I just know what has worked for my son and that I couldn’t have done it alone.”

From captivating storytelling to impressive vocals and choreography, the Lufkin Middle School performers truly wowed the audience.

The Lufkin Association of Realtors teamed up with the Texas Ag Extension office to award a lucky recipient of this fun  project and plan to have the makeover completed by May 10.

Last night, Lufkin Middle School administrators opened the front doors of the newly designed middle school to the public to witness the beautiful completion of Phase II of the bond project.  

Students and staff across the district had the opportunity to experience the Solar Eclipse with lots of learning and viewing activities.

“The board considered 43 applications, community input, two layers of interviews and reference and background checks in our extensive search for our next superintendent,” said Kristi Gay, board president. “Dr. James Hockenberry is the Board’s unanimous choice to fill this position.”

New and returning members of the Elementary Honor Society were recognized today at the induction ceremony at Tom Jack Lucas Auditorium.

The Lufkin High School National Honor Society was held on Wednesday, March 20 in the Tom Jack Lucas Auditorium. Ninety-two new members were inducted into the program.

Kudos to all of the students at Coston Elementary who performed in the Winnie the Pooh Musical directed by music teacher Sarah Jackson.

“I wanted to bring awareness to theater education and the importance of theater—skills and passions that I think are involved with theater, like communication, team building, and teamwork,” Joel Hernandez said.

Launched in 1998 by the National Education Association (NEA), Read Across America is the nation’s largest celebration of reading. The NEA wants to make sure that all children have access to books.
