“Lufkin High School’s Vocational Education Training (VET) students, under the guidance of Special Education Teacher Ms. Jennifer Massie, have taking on a meaningful project through the “Suds of Success” initiative. Funded by the Education Foundation Grant, this program empowers students to create and sell handmade bar soaps to school staff, fostering essential life skills.
The “Suds of Success” project is designed to enhance students’ communication, social, and job readiness skills by engaging them in the process of soap-making and sales. Through this hands-on experience, students learn valuable lessons in entrepreneurship, customer service, and teamwork, all within a supportive school environment.
This initiative not only provides students wit
h practical skills but also encourages creativity and self-expression, preparing them for future employment opportunities and personal growth.
The success of the “Suds of Success” project exemplifies the impact of innovative educational programs in fostering independence and confidence among students with special needs.
We are very proud of what the VET program has to offer for our students.”
