The Purchasing Department is responsible for providing fair and accurate purchasing guidelines and procedures to the public for projects, goods and services for the district. The department issues bid/proposal and quotation solicitations as needed and all while ensuring compliance with purchasing laws, statutes and policies related to public school districts.

Property and Casualty Insurance

Lufkin Independent School District’s current Insurance expires September 1, 2018, rather than July 1, 2018.

Please use the dates in Addendum #1 for submitting.

Assignments and RFP documents are scheduled to be released on or about May 15, with proposal’s due prior to 2:00 p.m. on June 26, 2018.

We will send another invitation letter on or about April 27.  At that time, you can either submit a revised Proposer Questionnaire or advise us to use the one you previously submitted.


Lufkin Independent School District will be accepting Competitive Sealed Proposals for its Property and Casualty insurance coverages. A proposer’s questionnaire may be obtained from the District’s consultant Robert V. Reim Company, by emailing bobreim@robertreim.com. Questionnaires must be returned by 2 p.m. March 1, 2018.  All proposers will be qualified and insurance companies will be assigned. Proposals must be submitted prior to 2 p.m. April 24, 2018. The District’s current insurance expires July 1, 2018.


Abe Martin Stadium Track Repair

  • Track Resurfacing Request for Proposal — The Lufkin Independent School District will be accepting bids for Track Repair at Abe Martin Stadium. The project drawings and technical specifications are on file at the office of the Architect, Goodwin-Lasiter-Strong at 1609 S. Chestnut St., Suite 202, Lufkin, TX 75901 or email Starla Kellum at skellum@glstexas.com to download plans and specs. Notifications of intent to bid must be received to gain access via the Architect’s website. There will be a Pre-Bid meeting at the site on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at 10 a.m. It is strongly encouraged for prospective bidders to inspect the job site before submitting a bid. The site is located at Abe Martin Stadium, 309 S. Medford Drive, Lufkin, TX 75902. It is anticipated work will commence on June 4, 2018, and be completed no later than July 27, 2018. Quotations in excess of $25,000 require Payment and Performance bonds of 100 percent of the contract price. Bids are due on Thursday March 29, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Lufkin ISD Administration Building, 101 Cotton Square, Lufkin, TX 75904.
  • Scope of Work — This project involves the removal of the existing 8-lane track surface material at the Abe Martin Stadium, as well as some field event areas such as pole vault and long jump areas. These areas will receive a new polyurethane track surface, structural spray coats and associated striping. All perspective bidders will need to review the drawings and specifications for a full and complete understanding of the scope of work.
