English/Language Arts/Reading

Lufkin ISD’s Language Arts curriculum is built from the framework of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). The broad standards of TEKS identify what students should know and be able to do at every grade level and in every course as they move through our public schools. The Lufkin ISD curriculum narrows the broad focus of TEKS through a vertically aligned sequence of skills. Teams of teachers from all levels plan and align the curriculum to enhance learning and improve achievement through relevant, engaging lessons. Scientifically research-based techniques and best practices provide the foundation for learning activities.
