Gifted and Talented
Notification of testing results for Dual Language and Gifted and Talented for all incoming Kinder students only will be sent to parents the week of April 6. All other testing results for Gifted and Talented will be sent no later than May 1.
Lufkin ISD educates all children and personalizes curriculum to meet the needs of our students. Gifted and talented students and those with high abilities, need a program that will challenge and engage the child with accelerated programs to encourage them to be successful in their own way.
A gifted and talented student is a child or youth who performs at or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment and who exhibits high performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area; possesses an unusual capacity for leadership; or excels in a specific academic field. The district recognizes that gifted & talented students are found in all grade levels, all races, socioeconomic groups, geographic locales, and environments.
The first step in determining if the Lufkin ISD Gifted & Talented program is appropriate for your child is to call (936) 630-4254 to request an assessment.
Out-of-district students who qualify for Gifted & Talented services will be waived the out-of-district tuition fees.
