Coston Elementary’s College and Career Day was a day of possibilities. Members of the community came out and demonstrated what their job entails hoping to inspire students to reach for their dreams. Presenters wore their work attire, brought visuals and tools of the trade, and performed activities with the students to get them excited about their future goals and opportunities.
“Career development is a lifelong process that begins in childhood,” said April Pleasant, Coston School Counselor. “Research shows that career development at the elementary level solidifies the connection between their coursework and goals for the future. The sooner they understand the why to what they are doing now and establish this link, levels of frustration will decrease and the drive towards goal setting will increase.”
