Treydon Patton from Brookhollow Elementary shows off the new SMART tag before boarding the bus.

Students across the district are being issued SMART tags to assist with bus transportation communication. Students who ride the bus will wear their SMART tag with a break away lanyard and scan the tag upon entering and exiting the bus. This will allow parents to know when their child is coming home via text as well as monitoring their arrival through GPS.

Parents will need to create a Parent Portal (see videos below) after this week of practicing with the kids on how to use the cards. The cards have a RFDI chip inside and it is contained in a laminated sleeve. Students need to make sure they do not break the card or poke a hole in it. For younger students, the cards may be attached to their backpacks.
