Hall Henderson, Matt Knight and Scott Skelton, who were all incumbents, were re-elected to the school board after the final votes were tallied on Saturday. The final totals were Hall Henderson – 1,322 votes, Matt Knight –  1,221 votes, Scott Skelton – 1,064 votes and Delphina Maxie –  888 votes. The votes were canvassed at a special called board meeting on Thursday and the candidates will be sworn in at the May board meeting on May 20.

Hall Henderson

Hall Henderson was elected to the LISD Board of Trustees in March of 2017. Henderson is a proud 2004 graduate of Lufkin High School. After graduation, Henderson continued his education by obtaining degrees from Angelina College, Stephen F. Austin State University, and Texas A&M University. Henderson is the President of Fortis Title Group which owns and operates six title companies throughout the East Texas area. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Rebecca McIlveene Henderson. They are members of Lufkin’s First Baptist Church where Hall serves as a deacon and trustee and Rebecca serves as Director of the WeeCare program. Hall and Rebecca have two sons, George and Charlie, that are in the Dual Language program and love the Panthers. Hall currently serves as the Board President for East Texas Behavioral Resources, coaches youth baseball and basketball, and is an active member of the Lufkin Hosts Lions Club.

 

 

 Matt Knight

Matt Knight was elected to the Board in May of 2018. He is a graduate of Hallsville (Texas) High School. He earned his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University and his Masters in Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. He brings 15 years of experience working in public education as a teacher, coach and administrator. Knight is an associate at The Advanced Financial Group in Lufkin. He currently serves on the Boys and Girls Club of Lufkin Advisory Board, the Angelina County Chamber Leadership Tomorrow Committee, the Lufkin Youth Baseball Board, and is active coaching youth sports. He is a member of the Lufkin Host Lions Club, the Angelina County A&M Club, the Texas A&M Lettermen’s Association, and is a graduate of Leadership Lufkin. Matt’s wife, Brandie, is the Success Coach at Lufkin High School. They have three children, Cooper (LHS Class of ’24), Avery (’32) and Landry (’33). The Knights are members of Lufkin First United Methodist Church.

 

Scott Skelton

Scott Skelton was elected to the Lufkin ISD Board of Trustees in 2012. Skelton is a 1985 graduate of Denison (Texas) High School, a 1989 Graduate of Abilene Christian University, and a 1992 graduate of Baylor University School of Law. Skelton is a partner in the Skelton Slusher Barnhill Watkins Wells PLLC where he has practiced law for 29 years and is an owner in Community Title Company. Skelton presently serves as Chair of the Government Relations Committee for both the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce and the Lufkin/Angelina County Economic Development Partnership and is an Executive Board Member of the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce. He had also served on the United Way Board for Lufkin and Angelina County and is past President of United Way. Skelton coached soccer for many years at the recreational and club levels. Skelton is married to Sheila Todd Skelton, who is an Instructional Coach at Brandon Elementary. Scott and Sheila have two daughters, Dr. Lauren Skelton Ford, who is Pediatric Resident at Texas Tech University Health Science Center and Allison who attending Abilene Christian University and is obtaining a degree in Speech Pathology. Both girls attended LISD schools from kindergarten through 12th grade.
