Advanced Placement (AP) gives students the opportunity to take college-level work while still in high school. Students can earn college credit and placement for test scores of 3, 4 or 5. Lufkin High School has one student who was recently recognized as a National AP Scholar. Congratulations to Garin Ashby, who graduated Salutatorian last year and is a freshman at the University of Texas, scored 4’s or 5’s on all of the AP tests he took while in high school.

National AP Scholar
National AP Scholar is an elite honor for a student who averages a score of 4.63 (at least an average score of 4.00 on all AP exams taken and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more AP exams).
AP Scholar with Distinction
AP Scholar with Distinction: An AP Scholar with Distinction is a student who on average scores 3.98 (at least an average score of 3.50 on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on five or more AP exams). Lufkin High School had 17 students who achieved AP Scholar with Distinction.
AP Scholar with Honor
AP Scholar with Honor: An AP Scholar with Honor is a student who on average scores 3.47 (at least an average score of 3.25 on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on four or more AP exams). Lufkin High School had 8 AP Scholars with Honor.
