Superintendent Lynn Torres announced this morning that Pamela McClendon will be the new principal at Brandon Elementary. The previous principal, Mark Keith, has accepted a principal position in his hometown of Paris, Texas.

 

Pamela McClendon is a native of Linden, Texas and a 1990 graduate of Atlanta High School. After high school, she attended Stephen F. Austin State University and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and Master’s Degree in Education. She also received her principal certification through the Educational Leadership Program at Stephen F. Austin State University.

 

Mrs. McClendon is seasoned with 25 years’ experience in education. Over those years, she’s worked in the capacity as a first, third, fourth, and fifth grade elementary teacher during the academic calendar school year as well as many summer sessions. Pamela has also served on the administrative team as assistant principal for summer school.  Pamela received the 2014-2015 Newcomer of the Year Award for Brandon Elementary. She was privileged to be one of the first members of Lufkin’s Leadership Academy in 2016-2017. For the past three years, she’s served as the assistant principal at Brandon Elementary.

 

Mrs. McClendon supports the community by assisting Abundant Life Church with tutorials, serves on the Dunbar Hall of Honor Committee, and wherever she observes a need.

 

Superintendent, Mrs. Torres, said, “Pam is a wonderful choice for Brandon. I am excited that she will bring a sense of continuity to the staff and school. She is a proven leader and dedicated to the staff and students at Brandon.”

Mrs. McClendon said, “I am extremely honored and super excited to have the opportunity to serve as Brandon’s principal!  Working at Brandon is such a pleasurable experience for me. The leadership team is amazingly supportive and the staff is completely dedicated. The Brandon Family definitely works as a team to empower and educate the best students in the world.”

 

Mrs. McClendon and her husband, Carl, have one child, Cartavion, who is attending college at University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. The McClendons have one grandchild, Aubrey Grace.
