At exactly 2 p.m., Herty Primary students were treated to a celebration of reading with Dr. Seuss’s birthday and Read Across America Day. Community members, Lufkin High School students, and Lufkin ISD police officers came by to share their love of reading with the students. Dr. Seuss, otherwise known as Theodore Seuss Geisel, was an American author who wrote and illustrated children’s books that are still favorites today.
