Lufkin High School student, Elizabeth Jones, is partnering with Harold’s House to bring awareness of the program and ask the community to provide gift cards to help the employees purchase much needed items for those who use their services. The mission of Harold’s House is to  serve child victims sexual and/or physical abuse, minimizing their trauma through a team approach in a child friendly environment. According to the Harold’s House website, the organization is a non-profit Children’s Advocacy Center that ensures the safety of children suffering with sexual and/or physical abuse. They provide counseling services and have a team of forensic interviews, medical staff, law enforcement, CPS, counselors, court officials, volunteers and support staff.
Elizabeth Jones is in the Leadership Tomorrow program hosted by the Chamber of Commerce. As part of the program, students are encouraged to have a project that makes a difference in the community and Elizabeth chose to help Harold’s House.
The gift cards collected will be used for clothing, school necessities and snacks for the victims. Gift cards may be dropped off at Lufkin High School, Lufkin Administration Building on Cotton Square, The Very Thing and the Chamber of Commerce.
