Roy Knight has more than 30 years of experience in the education field. After graduating from Texas A & M University, he started as a teacher/coach with Cameron ISD. He worked as an assistant coach and math teacher at Lufkin High School from 1977-83. His experience includes work as a high school principal in the DeKalb and Hallsville school districts.

Lynn Torres

Lynn Torres was born in Louisville, Kentucky but moved to Texas during elementary school. She is a graduate of Richardson High School near Dallas. She came to East Texas and attended Stephen F. Austin State University. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish and Sociology with a minor in Social Rehabilitation Services. She received a Master’s Degree in Spanish, and a Master’s Degree in Education with a Mid-Management Certification. She also received a Superintendent’s Certification from Stephen F. Austin State University.

Mrs. Torres is beginning her 31st year working in the field of education here in Lufkin. After spending 30 years at Lufkin High School as a Spanish teacher, department head, activities director, assistant principal and associate principal, she currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for Lufkin ISD.

Johnny Giles

Johnny Giles has 31 years of educational experience on the elementary, secondary, and college level. His bachelor's degree is from Jarvis Christian College and his master's degree was obtained from Stephen F. Austin University. Johnny has devoted 21 years to Lufkin ISD where he is currently serving as Assistant Superintendent in charge of personnel. He has two children, Jonathan and Adrian. His philosophy is hiring the best staff that is committed to providing quality support and education for all students.

Larry Parsons
Assistant Superintendent - Finance

Larry Parsons has been with the Lufkin Independent School District for 27 years and has been its chief financial officer for 17 years. He received his BBA in Accounting and his MBA in Management from Stephen F. Austin University. The duties of Business Manager include all supervisory aspects of the general ledger activities of accounting, purchasing, taxes, and elections. Larry and his wife Laverne have two children. During his spare time he enjoys motorcycling, camping, and "Volkswagon Mania."
