Mathematics

The Lufkin ISD’s mathematics curriculum is based upon proven instructional practices that actively engage students in the learning process. Teachers provide opportunities for students to apply their knowledge and skills to real world situations. The mathematics curriculum is based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). The curriculum is vertically and horizontally aligned and is based upon clearly defined standards that are rigorous and appropriately challenging. The curriculum reflects worthwhile expectations for student learning through problem solving. Lufkin ISD is committed to continuous improvement and the curriculum is revised annually by teams of teachers to enhance student learning.
